BuyNatural had the opportunity to meet with Karen, the founder of Downunder Magnesium, where she gave us a glimpse into what it’s like to launch a brand and the journey she has experienced with growing Downunder Magnesium.
Tell us a little bit about why you started on the journey of a brand owner?
I’m Karen, the founder of Downunder Magnesium
About 8 years ago I was looking for more of an alternative approach with helping me break through my anxiety, fear, emotions and my general health and wellbeing.
My symptoms included extreme pain and spasm in my neck and shoulders, ALL THE TIME, brain fog, horrible PMS, and hormones going crazy, which led to anxiety, depression, and in some cases, bedridden cause my body would just lock up. Basically, I felt emotional all the time, and this affected me as a mother and as a person. I knew something had to change.
So, I went looking for other ways to find relief and feel normal again. And a friend of mine recommended a Kinesiologist to me. That’s when I found out about Magnesium. I was extremely deficient in it. And like most of us, I had no clue what magnesium was all about.
My kinesiologist recommended that I try transdermal magnesium.
I began researching and reading about half the internet before I finally decided to try it.
Believe it or not…Magnesium is a vital nutrient that is involved in energy production, muscle contraction, muscle relaxation and keeping our cells healthy. Magnesium plays a pivotal role in cellular energy production. It is necessary for the production of the body’s major form of energy therefore; a deficiency of magnesium may make you feel tired and low in energy.
After I started my new magnesium routine, I started to notice that my anxiety was calming down, I could get out of bed in the mornings my neck and shoulders were less in pain and not as tight. (It had its spark back!) My heavy fog was lifted, and my energy started coming back. I honestly, hadn’t felt this good in years!!!
I truly felt like this was a gift from the universe and since then I have not stopped using my transdermal magnesium.

Believe it or not. Not many people know that I’m Irish, born and breed. So that’s always a nice little surprise for our customers.
What excites you about magnesium products?
Downunder Magnesium holds a vibration of self-love and self-care no matter what age. Seeing that our customers can feel the energy of our products straight away, watching and seeing their body destress. There is something very magical about that. That’s what absolutely excites me, and I love it.
What have been the main highlights since founding Downunder Magnesium?
Expanding my Downunder Magnesium Team – I have an incredible tribe of women that treat Downunder Magnesium just like their own. Without them, my visions would not be alive today.
What would you do differently if you had your time over?
I wouldn’t do anything differently. I’ve held this vision/manifestation for so many years. I’ve had a long time to figure out all the nuts and cracks
What do you do to relax and wind down – how do you avoid the stresses of building a brand?
I love nature – going for long walks along the beach with my beautiful little boy and two dogs. Climbing mountains. I’m always a different version of myself when I reach the top. Breathwork, magnesium floats. I listen to my body on the days that I need rest, the days that are more creative for me. I take a lot of time for myself to process and take a step back and look at the vision and hold that space.
