Not getting sufficient amount of sleep can be detrimental to maintaining a healthy weight.  This is because your body will need more energy if you’re not sleeping properly, as it will be awake for longer. This can make you more likely to eat unhealthy foods therefore impacting weight loss and maintenance. Which is why it is important to get a good amount of sleep in a good sleep environment for healthy weight management.

2.  Strengthens Immune System

Researchers say your immune system can be strengthened with gaining a good night sleep. There have been studies that have shown that sleep can boost T-Cells in your body that fight off infection. There are plenty of health problems, which are associated with poor sleep.

3. Increased Productivity

Sleep has been associated with enhanced concentration and greater cognitive function, both of which can help you work successfully. A goodnights sleep will help a person stay more focused and therefore increasing the quality that tasks are completed at. This leads to the person getting more done which makes them feel better about their job.

4. Keeps Your Heart Healthy

Heart disease, high blood pressure and heart attacks have been associated with poor amounts of sleep. Lack of sleep can cause your heart to work harder which uses a stress hormone to be released by your body. Moreover, your body needs rest for it to function at its best.

Sleep helps prepare our brain for new things to learn. We can be more alert to new information that we come across in our everyday life when we are well rested. Sleep will help new information be memorised so it’s important to get a goodnights sleep.

Sleep also helps increase exercise performance. Amount of sleep you need depends on your genes and your chosen sport. But sleep will boost your athletic performance in many ways. All types of exercise performance are affected by sleep. Recovery helps with hand-eye coordination, time of reaction and recovery of muscles. A lack of sleep can have a detrimental impact on strength and power. Therefore, it is important to get a sufficient amount of sleep, especially before some sort of exercise.

7. Increased Alertness

A good night’s sleep helps improves alertness. Not only does it feel great to be engaged and active, but also it increases your odds of another good night’s sleep. When waking up feeling refreshed you will have more energy, which can lead you to be more active so the following night, you will sleep better and boost your daily energy level.
